My name is Millie and I create handmade spackle paintings from my little studio. For me, art isn't about the perfect — it's about the tactile, about texture, light and stillness. Every piece carries traces of the hand that shaped it.
It began with a longing for something genuine. In the middle of a life full of screens and fleeting impressions, I was drawn to the things that take time — the material, the surface, the kind of work that has to be built up by hand. Spackle became my language. Something in its rawness and warmth spoke to me at once.
I'm in love with texture. With how a surface can be almost silent and yet full of life, how light wanders across the relief and casts new shadows through the day. My paintings shouldn't take over a room — they should breathe with it, offering a point for the eye to rest on. A Scandinavian calm, quite simply.
I create each painting slowly and with presence. I work in muted tones drawn from nature — sand, stone, clay and off-white — with thin strokes of gold where the light needs to settle. No two works are alike, and that's exactly how I want it to be.
From the first choice of colour to the final shimmer of gold — a slow, tactile journey where every step is given its time.
It all begins with the colour. I choose tones from sand, stone and warm off-white — shades that age beautifully and rest within a room rather than clamour for attention.
The spackle is applied by hand, layer after layer. Between each one, the surface is left to dry and settle. It's patient work, where the painting slowly takes shape beneath the hands.
With a spackle knife, a brush and sometimes just my fingertips, I shape relief and movement. This is where the depth appears — the shadows and ridges that let the light shift across the day.
Finally, a discreet touch of gold and a protective finish. It's the detail that makes the texture catch the light when the sun falls in — the painting's last breath.
“Every painting is made by hand — shaped, tactile and finished by me, one layer at a time.”
It's a promise: no machines, no shortcuts. Just time, patience and an honest love for the material.
